WHO WE ARE AT RENOVATED MINDS

We believe it is important to develop a strong therapeutic alliance with our clients, to be compassionate, to listen carefully to them, and to help them experience healing and hope in their lives. We specialize in rekindling and increasing security and wellness in oneself and in relationships. We meet clients where they are at and explore what works best for them based on their own values and priorities. It is a passion of ours to support and minister to those who are navigating the complexities of life and see them become stronger through it.

We believe change happens —

When we are willing to shift our perspective, identify our biases and judgments, and step out of ourselves to try new things. Gentleness, trust, compassion, sense of safety, and being heard are important factors of change, and an essential part of the therapeutic environment we work to create.

  • I offer individual psychotherapy for ages 12+ including adults, parents, couples, and families collaboratively. I utilize a mix of authenticity, validation, humor, DBT skills, and being non-judgmental to help process stressors and traumas, integrate mindfulness, self-compassion, gain coping skills and find inner wisdom that ultimately helps guide towards healing, growth, connection, and resiliency. I utilize a holistic approach as I believe mind, body, spirituality, and environment impacts functioning. As an EMDR therapist, I recognize how traumas often hold us back from living life fully. Assisting clients to process traumatic experiences, rewire negative thinking patterns, and be healed of hurtful memories motivates me to keep doing this work.

I have over 15 years of experience in the mental health field working with people in a variety of settings including in-home as a CTSS worker, therapeutic preschool, treatment center for chemical dependency, and outpatient therapy. As a Marriage & Family therapist, I view clients not only as who they are today, but also consider childhood experiences, home environment and neighborhood, culture and ethnicity, family of origin, and traumas.

I grew up in a small town in Minnesota and moved to the south metro in 2003. I am married with 2 kiddos, a daughter and son. Some of my interests include gardening, cooking, traveling, camping, decorating, music, yoga, movie nights at home, working out and training for marathons and triathlons. I have a strong Christian faith that guides me and fills me with hope for others. Before I became a therapist, I worked corporate jobs in IT and finance, was a teacher, youth camp counselor, ministry employee, and missionary in Australia. All my varied life experiences have shaped who I am and help me to better connect with others. I used to ask the question “why do I have to go through this hurt and struggle?” but have discovered that those difficult times have made me stronger, increased my confidence, and are now used to relate to others.

  • I have a heart for walking alongside people who are seeking direction and growth. I work with individuals ages 16+ and approach therapy as a sacred, collaborative process—thus, it’s imperative you feel safe, seen and honored throughout our work together.  I believe mental wellness, relational health and spirituality are inextricably intertwined and ultimately rooted in our self-concept and perception of purpose.  Although suffering in life is unavoidable, I believe we can prolong or even worsen our struggles when we don’t have a healthy relationship with ourselves or aren’t living fully aligned to our values.

I am a Christian that draws from Biblical principles as well as practical insight and evidence-based practices. Whatever brings you to therapy, please know we will go where you want to go and at your pace. I am trained in EMDR, DBT, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy and TF-CBT. I received a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Northern Iowa in 2007 and a certificate in Addictions from Bethel University in 2019.
